Tin Can

Corded, landline-style phone for kids that runs on home Wi-Fi, with no screen, no texting, and no apps. Kids call friends from a parent-approved list with speed dial, and parents set quiet hours and see call logs in an app. Calls to other Tin Cans and 911 are free, and calling regular phone numbers is $9.99 a month. Needs 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and a wall outlet.

Lets kids call their friends the way we used to, with no screen involved. Even better when a few families in the same class get one.
