abc Fountain Pen

About

The LAMY abc is a beginner's fountain pen designed by Bernt Spiegel and Entwicklungsgruppe Mannheim for LAMY in 1980, built around the way young h
ands actually learn to write. The grip section is shaped so the pen can only sit comfortably in a tripod hold, the grip a teacher would otherwise
spend a term correcting, and holding it that way is what builds the fine motor control behind fluent handwriting. A fountain pen also rewards a li
ght hand: press too hard and the nib skips, so a child learns to slow down and let the ink do the work rather than forcing the page. The barrel is
maple, the cap is high-gloss plastic with a cube-shaped roll-stop and a slot for a name sticker. It comes with an A nib (medium, rounded tipping,
made for beginners) or an LH nib for left-handers, plus one LAMY T 10 cartridge in blue. 133 mm long, 12 g. Made in Heidelberg.

Why we picked it

Sam
We love a school supply that makes the act of learning itself feel a little more intentional, and this is one of those rare tools designed specifically around how children learn to write.
